Global Warming, the pattern

This close-fitting sweater, with puffed sleeves and kangaroo pouch, is knitted entirely in the round, from bottom up. The pattern is written for size xs, but it's adaptive to any size, by knitting a basic raglan sweater and following the instructions for waist shaping, pocket and sleeve increases & decreases.

Rnd 15: knit

Repeat rounds 14 and 15 seven more times and work round 14 one more time (15 raglan decreases made, 30 rnds total)

Shaping the neck using short rows:
Row 1 (RS): working back and forth, k12 sleeve sts, 32 back sts and 12 sleeve sts, turn
Row 2 (WS): purl 12 sleeve sts, 32 back sts and 6 sleeve sts, turn
Row 3: knit 6 sleeve sts, 32 back sts and 6 sleeve sts, turn

Row 5: continue knitting in the round and knit all 88 sts

Work 3 rounds of (k2, p2) ribbing, bind off in ribbing.

Pocket:

Pocket is placed 0,5” above the ribbing.

CO 40 sts, knit 10 rows back and forth in St st.

Start the shaping:

Row 1: k1, ssk, knit to 3 sts before end of row, k2tog, k1

Row 2: purl

Repeat these two rows 4 more times (you now have 30 sts)

Continue in St st for 20 more rows, 40 rows total.

Bind off all sts. It's a good idea to block both sweater and the pocket before sewing on the pocket.

FINISHING:

Sew pocket onto the sweater along the lines shown in the picture above. Pick up 32 sts from the rounded edges (where you did the shaping) and knit (k2, p2) ribbing for 7 rows. Bind off in ribbing and sew the sides of ribbing to the sweater also.

Sew underarm gaps closed and wave in ends.
